Alan has worked for Zenith for 21 years, even though he says he is only 48. He was an Engineer with Seimens Power Generation for a number of years and has worked for NRG and Kinetic. His expertise is very much around advising clients about their strategic plans for the growth and development of new and existing staff, particularly in the SME market in the North East. Alan’s passions are around young people being able to make informed choices about their career paths, and he is an advocate for apprenticeships and development. Because of his original background and visiting 3 or 4 businesses a week, he has become an expert in the Manufacturing and Engineering sectors in particular. He has been a director of the Advanced Manufacturing Forum since 2012, supporting the sector with its challenges and successes, with the AMF being a membership organisation purely for the industry. Alan is motivated by collaboration and says that we need to champion the North East by way of introductions and support of all sectors. It is important that we all pull in the same direction for the region, no matter what sector. Alan is well networked and can always be relied upon to support challenges.

Alan has a passion for golf in his spare time – he reckons it’s also a way of networking and work. Not sure everyone at Zenith agrees with him, but he is adamant, either way he is happy to support a round with anyone who is willing. Golfers take note! Alan is also a mad keen Newcastle United fan, having had a season ticket or two for over 25 years, although he does at times wish he had been born in Barcelona, those 42 years ago
