What qualifications are needed for a career in the Engineering & Manufacturing industry?

Typically, a bachelor’s degree is preferred, but it is not always the only or best route depending on the role. Practical roles often require candidates to complete an apprenticeship where they gain excellent hands-on experience. Some may go on to complete an HNC (Higher National Certificate), HND (Higher National Diploma), or bachelor’s degree later in their career to support their development. There are also specialist certifications needed in some industries, especially in areas such as purchasing and supply, where candidates are expected to be either working towards or have completed a CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) qualification.
