Phoenix Steel is a well-established steel supplier who are now looking to recruit a apprentice to join the team. This could be the role for you if you want to learn while you earn! You will be loading and unloading of vehicles, operating machinery including overhead cranes and saws.
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
Responsibilities:
- The job entails receiving information on customer material requirements and subsequently processing the material according to our Quality Procedures
- Operating a variety of cutting machinery, including band saws, guillotines and decoilers
- To move material use of overhead cranes and fork trucks will be required (we will provide training)
- In addition the job will require a certain level of physical exertion as steel will need to be manually handled at times and is heavy
- Referring to quality procedures will be required and quality checks will need to be implemented at all parts of the process
- This ensures all staff work to the same standards and improvements can be quickly and uniformly implemented
Requirements:
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade 9-4 or A*-C) essential
- Time Keeping
- Attendance
- Learners must be aged 18 or above due to insurance purposes
Summary
Salary – £17,680 a year
Location – South Shields
Expected Duration – 12 months
Working week – Monday – Friday, 8.00am – 5.00pm 40 hours a week
